Our Story
Seniors’ Wish had its beginnings in a chance meeting with a senior.
The founder reached out to help an elderly woman with a gesture and a gift. That might have been the end of it, but something unexpected happened. She became emotional because she was not accustomed to being ‘seen’ and helped.
That small incident became the catalyst for him to create a Foundation to honour the elderly.

AGO Seniors Arts Engagement Program
Our Mission
Our goal is to help alleviate the loneliness and invisibility that seniors experience in our society.
It can begin with a simple act of kindness like stopping to say hello to a senior, or adopting a senior in your neighbourhood.
One of the most rewarding things you can do is to start a senior and student art initiative in your community.
This has already begun with Seniors Wish at many schools and seniors’ homes and it is a model that can be duplicated anywhere.
Our Activity
Seniors tend to use their left brain functions – routine tasks and activities – more as they age and the creative side, less. We use art throughout our programs activating the right brain, their creative side.
Seniors who have never picked up a paintbrush begin to create a work of art with ease.
The real reward has been connecting high school students and seniors. By focusing on their art, the pressure to communicate evaporates and conversation flows easily.
